The IDM icon will release a batch of archival material from his Last Step alias.

Aaron Funk, better known as Venetian Snares, will release his Lost Sleep EP this week. The EP collects material recorded by Funk under the banner of Last Step, the heavily acid-tinged alias that has previously delivered a trio of LPs for Planet Mu.

According to Funk, the machine-made tracks on the new release were written around the same time as his Sleep LP, which was released in 2012. According to the producer, the EP was “produced in the liminal zone between wakefulness and its opposite.”

“The third of March is 303 day and here’s some acid from my collection to celebrate!” reads a preface for the EP. “These were made on the same setup I had for Sleep at some point after I made those tracks. Can’t remember making them but they sound really nice. March 3, 1982 was a Wednesday.”
