“I want to use my voice as a megaphone to young people everywhere and encourage human evolution”.

Miley Cyrus has launched a new foundation called Happy Hippie, which will include a series of live music collaborations.

The aim of the foundation is to raise money to fund support groups for “homeless youth, LGBT youth, and other vulnerable populations”. The first episode of the series features Joan Jett and Cyrus performing in her backyard and can be seen on the foundation’s website.

“We know that the people sleeping on the sidewalk could have been us or our closest friends if our lives were just a little bit different,” said Miley in a statement. “And the people we see sleeping on the sidewalk COULD be our friends if we gave them the chance. It’s time for us to speak up for the people in our streets, our cities, our world. It’s time for us to grow our passion, shine bright and change the future. It is essential to our lives to do good for others! The only way we can truly be happy is if we are making others happy! That is this Hippie’s goal!”
