Move over lasers.

If a standard Bluetooth speaker just isn’t cutting it for your impromptu summer gatherings in the park, then three men have come together to create what must be the ultimate in portable musical pyrotechnics – the Sound Torch.

Inventor Markus Buch, engineer Matt Ward and designer Christian Fisker have taken the concept of last year’s Pyro Board music visualiser and incorporated it into a portable Bluetooth speaker. When the music plays, the gas-powered matrix of flame reacts to the beat, as you can see below.

“Lasers and disco balls are old news,” the trio write on their website. “Did Metallica cry because there were going to be pyrotechnics on stage? No! Even Jimi Hendrix set his guitar on fire. Imagine if Avicii or Hardwell couldn’t use fire in their show? Disaster—it’s all about the FIRE not small pretty bubbles for kids.”

The trio are planning to launch the speaker on Kickstarter soon, but will only be manufacturing 100. If you want to be in with a chance of getting your hands on one, you’ll have to sign up at the Sound Torch website. [via The Creators Project]
