Directed by Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Tornatore.

Prolific film composer Ennio Morricone has scored hundreds of films by directors such as Sergio Leone, John Carpenter and Oliver Stone throughout his long career. The soundtrack maestro will soon have his life and works explored in a new feature-length film.

The film will be directed by frequent collaborator Giuseppe Tornatore and produced by Bobby Păunescu, Dragoṣ Săvulescu, George Shu and Serena Menarini. Tornatore previously worked with Morricone on films such as Cinema Paradiso.

Production is set to begin in August, with Tornatore set to shoot interviews with various subjects whilst simultaneously shooting a narrative film.

Ennio Morricone, now aged 86, has soundtracked over 500 films and television shows throughout his career including Once Upon a Time in the West, The Thing and The Untouchables. [via Exclaim]
