He’s also working with Cara Delevingne.

Nile Rodgers has dipped his toes into many genres over the years, but his next project will take him into uncharted territory. According to Yahoo Music’s Ram Country website he’s working on an “EDM-country” project with Australian singer Keith Urban.

According to the journalist who was played the songs by an excited Rodgers in the back of an SUV, one of the songs features Rodgers’ signature guitar over some “frenetic banjo playing by Urban” set to a “pulsating club beat”.

“His fans may have some kind of problem at first,” Rodgers said of the collaboration. “But my biggest records have always been like that. A lot of people, the only record they ever bought by David Bowie was Let’s Dance. That’s at least [seven] million albums — he’d never sold anything near that before. So his fanbase got angry: ‘This sucks! This is not Ziggy Stardust! That’s not Scary Monsters!’ But it was huge because it spoke to a broader audience. I think a record like this will speak to a broader audience [for Urban], and the country people will come around.” Here’s hoping eh?

In case this news wasn’t strange enough, Rodgers also revealed to The Sun earlier this week that he was working with English model and actress Cara Delevingne. “I would say she’s a rock chick and a really cool one too,” he said. “It’s not helping, it’s collaborating. When she played me her tracks I was shocked, it’s cool.”

The Chic member evidently has a fair bit of free time on his hands – he recently went busking on London’s South Bank. [via NME]
