Four Tet has announced the release of a special collaboration from his archives.

Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid recorded a version of Derrick May’s ‘Strings Of Life’ before the legendary jazz drummer passed away in 2010. The track has never been officially released, although it was broadcast on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide podcast as part of a tribute to Reid shortly after his death.

Hebden has now announced, in typically low-key fashion, that the collaboration will be the next release on his Text Records imprint. There’s no official release date but he’s “picking up stock today”, so expect to see it in shops in the next few weeks.

‘Strings Of Life’ appears just a couple of weeks after Hebden’s latest album, the two-track Morning/Evening.
