DMX has been sentenced to six months in prison for a family court violation.

The 44-year-old was arrested on charges of unpaid child support shortly before a New York concert last month. DMX was on his way to the Masters of Ceremony performance at Radio City Music Hall on June 26 when he was apprehended by New York Sheriff deputies acting on multiple arrest warrants.

The troubled rap legend was sentenced to six months in prison by Family Court Judge Deanne Trippi for failure to comply with a previous court order. He will serve his time at Erie County Holding Center in Buffalo, New York, a “pretrial, maximum security detention facility.”

Upon his arrest last month, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office told PIX 11 that DMX was taken into custody for “several issues outstanding.” As well as owing $400,000 in child support in Erie County, an arrest warrant out of White Plains, New York cited the rapper for bail jumping. Another arrest warrant, this time from Yonkers, accused DMX of being an aggravated unlicensed motor vehicle operator. Finally, there was also a complaint against DMX stemming from an April 5 robbery at a gas station in Newark, New Jersey. [via WIVB]
