Another Madlib Invazion…

Earlier this week Rappcats announced that a new collaborative Madlib EP would be released in September featuring a surprise rapper. The cat is now out the bag, the rapper in question is Future Islands‘ Sam Herring – who has previously dabbled with rap as Hemlock Ernst.

Trouble Knows Me is the name of the new project, and the self-titled EP will include three vocal and three instrumental tracks. Visually, the EP comes with screen printed covers from Hit + Run that feature designs by Jeff Jank and Gustavo Eandi with 15 to 20 variations on the theme – see them all here.

You can hear the title track via Soundcloud below. Rappcats have a few copies in their shop for now with the rest of the first run being made available in Chicago tonight (for a show at The Mid) and Los Angeles on July 18 (at a pop up shop). After that you’ll have to wait until September 1.
