Gain bragging rights with Found Them First.

Some of us pride ourselves on being the first to know about a band before our friends, but actually proving it is difficult. With Spotify’s new tool however, you’ll be able to see exactly which popular artists you were listening to before the rest of the world.

Found Them First allows Spotify to go back through your track history and determine whether you’re in the top 15% of listeners for a “breakout” artist, which the company defines as having at least 20 million streams, and a growth rate of 2,000% between January 2013 and June 2015.

“This experience is an ode to the fans who truly love discovering new artists,” said Jackie Jantos, Spotify’s VP of creative and brand strategy. “Users are rewarded for listening early on, and earn some bragging rights.”

If you’re not quite at the cutting edge of music discovery, then Spotify will offer you a consolation playlist of emerging artists you might enjoy.
