Pioneer DJ’s latest Rekordbox update goes toe-to-toe with Traktor and Serato.

Pioneer DJ has unveiled the latest version of Rekordbox, which, as the company previously teased, now functions as full DJ software.

Rekordbox DJ comes as part of the Plus Pack update, and means DJs can  plug their laptop straight into a controller and play without the need for other DJ software. Previously Rekordbox was a preparation system that would need to transfer a library to software like Serato DJ and Traktor.

Pioneer has also announced two new controllers designed for Rekordbox DJ. The layout of the DDJ-RZ and DDJ-RX both mirror Rekordbox DJ’s layout and have all the controls you’ll need to take advantage of the software’s features like hot cues, beat jump and what Pioneer refers to as ” the industry’s first Pad FX.”

The Plus Pack is released on October 1, and costs €139. You can also subscribe for use of Rekordbox DJ for €10.90 per month from December. You’ll get Rekordbox DJ free with the DDJ-RZ and DDJRX controllers, but they’ll set you back €2,099 and €1,049 respectively.

You can get a feel for how Rekordbox DJ works in Pioneer’s video below.
