Left-field explorers Flying Lotus, Shabazz Palaces, and Thundercat have launched a new project called WOKE, and their first release is an exciting one: a single entitled ‘The Lavishments of Light Looking’, featuring P-Funk godhead George Clinton.

The song is being released as a part of Adult Swim’s singles program — stream it below via Pitchfork.

Update: Flying Lotus has opened up about WOKE with Pitchfork. The project started about three years ago as a film, but when that stalled, the focus changed to music. The group also includes Brainfeeder’s Jeremiah Jae as a producer, and there are nine songs “floating around.” FlyLo plans to get in the studio with the other members and then hopes to tour.
