Frak mainstay and Börft boss readies a new 12″ for one of our Australian labels-to-watch.

Jan Svensson formed longstanding Swedish analogue unit Frak as a 13-year-old way back in 1987, driven by a love for Australian industrial outfit Severed Heads and founder Tom Ellard’s Terse Tapes label. Svensson’s new EP as Villa Åbo, set to arrive via Sydney imprint Noise In My Head, is described as a product of mutual appreciation for Antipodean experimentalists.

New EP Sibilant collects three varied cuts, opening with uncompromising techno number ‘Warming Up Signal’. The flip side contains ‘Drum Track’, a paranoid beat track recorded alongside Karlskrona punk rocker Nebula, and the hypnotic ‘Syndrome Beautiful’.

Villa Åbo’s Sibilant 12″ will be released on October 23, housed in artwork from P.A.M.’s Misha Hollenbach. The digital version will follow on November 20. Preview all three tracks below.
