Suge Knight and Katt Wiliams have pleaded not guilty Tuesday to robbery charges filed against them after a celebrity photographer accused them of taking her camera last year.

The former rap mogul and comedian both appeared briefly in court to enter their pleas on Tuesday. Knight’s attorney denies his client was responsible for taking photographer Leslie Redden’s camera last year, just days after he was shot six times outside a West Hollywood nightclub.

Attorney Thomas Mesereau said on October 13 that threats Knight made toward Redden were attempts to get her to not shoot photos of his young son. “The only evidence that exists is he didn’t want his son photographed,” Mesereau said. “Any father would have acted as he did.”

A verbal confrontation with Knight was recorded by a camera hanging from Redden’s neck, but the device did not capture the physical struggle over her professional camera. The next hearing in the robbery case is scheduled for November 30. A trial date is yet to be set.

The former Death Row boss remains jailed on $10 million bail in a separate murder case. In January, Knight ran over two men in Compton, killing one and seriously injuring another. Knight’s lawyers claim he was fleeing armed attackers when he hit the men. Knight has already pleaded not guilty in that case and is set to stand trial, although no date has been scheduled. Judge Coen set a December 11 court hearing to get an update on the murder case.

Suge Knight faces potential life sentences if convicted in either case due to prior convictions for armed robbery and assault with a gun. [via Billboard]
