On October 17-18, New York welcomed the first Machines In Music fair.

Organized by popular Brooklyn-based synthesizer store Control and Verbos Electronics, the “modular synth fair” invited manufacturers, fans and practitioners to inspect and enjoy some of the most intriguing devices on the market and to connect with a scene that’s surprisingly fast-growing, considering the technology was considered to be outmoded.

FACT’s Matt Vega filmed the event, and spoke to Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, both a musician and a part of the Control team, to find out what was so enticing about the modular world, and why it has become the boutique electronic instrument of choice in recent years.
