Björk has hit out at plans to build over 50 dams and power plants across Iceland.

The Vulnicura artist shared a minute-long video message calling for global action to save the island’s untouched nature, ahead of her press conference at Iceland Airwaves festival with writer and environmentalist Andri Snær Magnason.

The Icelandic government’s energy plans “could end Iceland’s wilderness in a few years,” she said. “We propose to start a national park in our highlands. Surveys have already proved that the majority of Icelanders are behind us. We ask for the world to support us against our government.”

Next month Björk will release an acoustic version of her latest album, Vulnicura, while 33 1/3 this week announced the publication of a book on Homogenic. [via Pitchfork]
