Ikonika adds a splash of old-school heat to Because Music’s newest signing.

Italian newcomer Mind Enterprises, aka Andrea Tirone, has recruited Hyperdub’s pristine synth-funk specialist to remix his new single, ‘Chapita’.

Originally from Turin and now based in East London, Tirone has just signed to Because Music, home to the likes of Django Django and Little Dragon, for the release of his debut album Idealist. The record was inspired in part by his discovery of Afro-funk from Nigeria and Ghana, which he came across through a recommendation by none other than Liquid Liquid singer Salvatore Principato.

“After that my way of composing changed drastically,” Tirone says. “One thing I was thinking while recording the album was that it’s dance music, but on my terms. This is what I would want to hear if I was going out to a gig. Songs, yes. But songs you can dance to. That’s the ultimate goal of this record.”

Ikonika has applied some signature Miami sunshine and trunk-rattling bass to the laidback shuffle of ‘Chapita’ – stream her remix below and hear the original in the video underneath. Idealist is out on February 5, 2016.
