David Bowie’s last album title suddenly makes sense.
As pointed out on Twitter (h/t Philip Sherburne), a “black star” is a type of cancer lesion – another clue to Bowie’s condition that nobody picked up on until after the singer’s death.
Bowie died on January 10 after an 18-month battle with cancer. In the wake of his death, his final video – for ‘Lazarus’ – and the lyrical content of his final album Black Star have taken on whole new meanings.
The music world has been paying tribute since the news was announced.
