It’s Kendrick vs. Drake and Björk vs. Meghan Trainor at the BRITs this year.

The BRIT Awards announced their nominations today and while it’s a fairly by-the-numbers list of nominations, one glaring exception stands out. Aphex Twin has been nominated for best British male solo artist, going up against Calvin Harris, Jamie xx, Mark Ronson and James Bay. This isn’t Richard D. James’ first time being nominated for the award either, he was up in 2002 and lost to Robbie Williams.

Other nominations of note include the best international artist categories. The best international female artist award could go to Ariana Grande, Björk, Courtney Barnet, Lana Del Rey or Meghan Trainor, while the male award is between Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Father John Misty, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.

Meanwhile, Eagles of Death Metal were nominated for best international band only two months after surviving the terrorist attack at their show in Paris. Read the full nominations on the BRIT Awards website and pray that no one falls off the stage this year.
