WhoSampled releases Samplethon documentary featuring Roni Size, Breakage and more
20 producers team for the database’s second annual Samplethon.
WhoSampled has been an essential resource for identifying samples in hip-hop and electronic music and since 2014 they’ve hosted their own spin on hackathons. Samplethons are events where producers work with the same cleared samples over a day to try and produce the best track.
Their most recent Samplethon took place last fall and gave 20 producers access to pre-cleared samples from the Bruton Music catalog to work together to make a track. The team also worked with a group of mentors including Roni Size, Breakage (Digital Soundboy), Ollie Teeba (aka Herbaliser) and Jonny Cuba (aka Soundsci). Watch the behind-the-scenes video to see the event unfold.
