The UK singer was in shock over Drizzy’s use of her 2008 track.

Crazy Cousinz collaborator Kyla has said she thought Drake’s sampling of their UK funky classic ‘Do You Mind’ on his new track ‘One Dance’ was an April Fools joke.

Speaking to Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Kyla explained how the unlikely sample has encouraged her back into music after taking a break from the business.

“I got a call a while back, and I was getting loads of emails,” she sad. “To be honest, I was really bad and kept putting them aside like ‘I’ll call later’. You know how it is, sometimes we’ve had things come in and they fall through at the last minute.

“When we phoned, the company said, ‘A huge international star wants to sample your tune and they wanna have a meeting with you.’ I was like ‘Yeah ok, who?’ and when they said Drake I was like ‘Yeah right!’

“We signed papers and I still didn’t believe it. I had a feeling someone was gonna say to me ‘April Fools’.”

‘One Dance’ looks set for inclusion on Drake’s forthcoming album Views From The 6, due on April 29. Listen to the track on Apple Music and hear Kyla’s original below. Last week the rapper thanked grime DJ Logan Sama for his help bringing the track together.
