A copy of Sun Ra & His Solar Orchestra’s Secrets Of The Sun on extremely rare clear orange vinyl is up for auction on eBay, as The Vinyl Factory points out. It’s currently going for $499.99, but there are still five more days to put money down for it (and no Buy Now option).
The standard black vinyl goes for over a thousand dollars on Discogs, so this could potentially be a steal.
According to VF, this pressing of the 1965 album may be the only orange vinyl copy in existence:”[It’s] just another example of Sun Ra’s extraordinary foresight and industry, pioneering coloured vinyl pressings as they were becoming popular with major labels.”
