The track was debuted on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Electric.

Thundercat has released new single ‘Bus in These Streets’, his first new music since 2015’s The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam. The track is a “comedic ode to our dependence on technology,” so there was no better person than Awful Records affiliate and Twitter don Bootymath to make the track’s artwork.

The track comes ahead of some big shows for Thundercat, including the Brooklyn edition of Afropunk which takes place this weekend (August 27) at Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene and an appearance at London’s OnBlackheath Festival on September 10.

He and his Brainfeeder cohort have three massive California showcases next month, as well, performing two nights at the Fox Theater in Oakland (September 15-16) and at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (September 17). Thundercat will be joined by Flying Lotus (who programmed and engineered ‘Bus in These Streets’), as well a George Clinton & Funkadelic, Shabazz Palaces and The Gaslamp Killer.

‘Bus in These Streets’ hits digital retailers on August 24. Stream below now.
