The rapper best known for ‘Laffy Taffy’ and ‘Dey Know’ is dead.

Shawty Lo was killed in a car accident last night, NBC 11 reports. Born Carlos Walker, the Atlanta rapper was 40.

Though Walker was not initially identified, his brother broke the news through the rapper’s Twitter this morning.

Mistakenly reported as a two-car hit-and-run originally, Fulton County police confirmed it was a single car accident. At approximately 2:20 AM Wednesday morning, Lo’s white Audi flipped over the guardrail on the I-285 southbound ramp before hitting two trees and bursting into flames. Walker was ejected from the car and pronounced dead on the scene. Two other passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Shawty Lo was a founding member of the quartet D4L who landed a #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 with ‘Laffy Taffy’. He landed his other best known hit, the Lil Wayne featuring ‘Dey Know’, in 2008.
