The North London producer brings heavy romance on his first release since 2015.

Dark0 has signed to XL Recordings, lately home to club-focused releases from Gila, Special Request and MssingNo, for the follow-up to last year’s Solace EP on Rinse.

The four-track Oceana EP “describes the unstable relationship Dark0 shares with his environment”, according to the label, and “journeys through lovesick dark-pop (‘Forever’) and total euphoria (’Luka’), before retribution (‘Plague’) and ending with ‘Heal’’s redemptive qualities.”

Lead track ‘Forever’ contrasts sugary, pitched-up vocals (singing the familiar line, “If I fall in love it will be forever”) with a super-heavy rumble, expanding Dark0’s earlier grime-leaning sound into poppier territory. Get it on rotation now.

Stream ‘Forever’ via Spotify and look out for the EP on October 28. Stream Dark0’s FACT mix.
