The film has been described as “The Crucible for the Snapchat generation”.

Abra will star in new film Assassination Nation alongside Pride and Prejudice and Zombies actress Suki Waterhouse and Transparent actress Hari Nef, Variety reports.

Written by Sam Levinson (Another Happy Day), the film will follow “four teenage girls in a small suburb who become the focus of unwanted, world-wide media attention after their personal information is leaked by an anonymous hacker.”

Producers Anita Gou and Matthew Malek said of the film: “What attracted both of us to the project was it’s bold depiction of teenagers, not as vapid or distracted but rather engaged and determined to navigate the complexities of this new world. It tackles issues of shaming, mob mentality, vigilantism, and righteousness.” They mentioned that the diversity of the cast was also paramount to the film.

On Thursday, the singer shared a new song ‘Bounty’ on SoundCloud. “I feel like you’ve been watching me / I feel like you’ve been stalking me,” she sings on the ominous late-night jam.

Speaking to FACT in July, Abra detailed her past with acting and that she had a passion for it before discovered music.
