A 20-second teaser reveals that JayKay’s hats have joined the digital age.

‘90s disco-revivalists Jamiroquai have announced their first album in seven years, Automaton. Their eighth record was teased with a clip titled Automaton Transmission 001 on Facebook yesterday, with frontman JayKay enhancing his regulation jester’s headgear with flashing rave lights in a vaguely Tron: Legacy-inspired fashion.

The music feels a bit sci-fi too, more inspired by Giorgio Moroder and Daft Punk than the ’70s funk and disco that fed into the band’s original shtick, when they blanketed the ‘90s airwaves with ‘Virtual Insanity’, ‘Cosmic Girl’, ‘Space Cowboy’ and the rest.

Tour dates have also been announced for 2017.

It’s already had one million views. You can’t avoid this. Jamiroquai are back.
