Hear the first single and read a surreal album description.

Shabazz Palaces, the experimental hip-hop duo of Digable Planets co-founder Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire, have announced their third album, Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star.

The follow-up to 2014’s Lese Majesty features The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, Thundercat, Gamble and Huff and more. You can hear the first single ‘Shine A Light’ now, which features Seattle funk band Thaddillac.

In character as his alter-ego Palaceer Lazaro, Butler shared a description for the album that reads straight out of a hip-hop sci-fi fanfiction.

Read the description below and look for the new album July 14 via Sub Pop.
