A techno epic ahead of the shoegaze icons’ first album in 22 years.

Avalon Emerson has delivered a dreamy remix of ‘Sugar For The Pill’, a track from Slowdive’s self-titled new album.

The SF-via-Berlin DJ and producer, whose 2016 track ‘The Frontier’ was one of the standout techno cuts of last year, has called her remix a “gilded escalation”. The term is pretty apt, too, as Emerson gets busy adding sparkling edges to every corner, folding her spiralling synths into a shuddering tornado of reversed breaks by the final stretch.

The remix comes as Slowdive kick off their North American tour, which began last night in St. Paul, MN. The album is out on Friday and marks the long-awaited return of the Reading shoegazers, who last released an album in 1995.
