Beneath, Kode9 and Visionist join Unsound bill

More big names and curious team-ups have been added to the Unsound bill.

Unsound isn’t Unsound without a string of mouth-watering commissions and collaborations. Kode9 has teamed up with Toby Heys as Audint to produce a new “multi-sensory installation”, Dead Record Office. The artwork uses “directional ultrasonic speakers and wearable SubPacs” to examine the ways in which “frequencies psychologically and physiologically affect humans.” Ben Frost, meanwhile, has worked with photographic artist Richard Mosse for Enclave, a piece which uses military surveillance film to analyse the ongoing military conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cabaret Voltaire veteran and sound designer nonpareil Chris Watson will also be on the installation circuit, with a piece based in the Krakow Botanical Gardens.

Rave deconstructionist Lee Gamble, meanwhile, is going back-to-back with Demdike Stare’s Miles Whittaker for a Jungle-leaning DJ set. Beneath will bring his jet-black synthesis of dubstep, funky and techno, Copeland will showcase her pop-for-the-damned, and recent FACT mixer Visionist will be taking grime to dark, dank and disturbing places.

They join the likes of Robert Rich, Porter Ricks, RP Boo, Karenn, Stellar OM Source, Earth and King Midas Sound. Unsound will run from October 13-20 in Krakow – head here for tickets and further information. More names are yet to be announced. Head here for tickets and further details.
