Xiu Xiu will release a new album entitled Dear God, I Hate Myself in February 2009, according to their website [NSFW].

It will be available via the Kill Rock Stars imprint, and is the prolific outfit’s eight "official" album in as many years. The band’s founder and frontman Jamie Stewart has apparently handled the lion’s share of singing, instrumental and recording duties; it’s not yet known whether his sometime comrade Caralee McElroy is present on the album. McElroy recently joined FACT-approved synth-goth group Cold Cave, and we suspect she’s now fully committed to that project. More details on Dear God when we have them.

On November 6, 2009, Ken Urban’s play Nibbler – "a dark comedy about a group of highschool students in the summer of 1992 who are visited by an alien" – will open at Theatre of NOTE in Los Angeles, boasting original music from Xiu Xiu.
