Antony and The Johnsons will release a new album, Swanlights, on October 11 through Rough Trade.

In addiction to the standard release, Abrams Image will publish a special edition of the album that includes the CD inside a 144-page hardcover book featuring paintings, collages, photography and writing from Antony Hegarty.

According to a press release, the album and book are “a continuation of Antony’s work exploring his connection to the natural world”. Björk duets with Hegarty on the track ‘Flétta’. The album and book are a continuation of Antony’s work exploring his connection to the natural world; apparently it finds the New York-based artist expanding his sonic palette, taking in “John Cale-esque string drones, heavily distorted guitars and symphonic winds and strings”.

Hegarty explains what he means by the word Swanlights:  ”It’s the reflection of light on the surface of the water at night. It’s the moment when a spirit jumps out of a body and turns into a violet ghost.”

Swanlights is the fourth Antony and The Johnsons album to date, following 2008’s acclaimed The Crying Light. This is the cover art:
