Glitch pioneer Oval will release a new album, DNA, in January.

In typical Oval fashion, DNA won’t be a straight album release. It’s two discs long, the first of which contains 25 “rare Oval tracks” and 12 previously unreleased numbers.

The second disc is, in Oval’s words, an “open source manifesto”, giving budding producers (or simply interested fans) access to roughly 2000 of Oval’s sound samples in AIFF form (intended for unrestricted usage), some examples of software that Oval has created in his time, an essay by Wire contributor David Toop and, for good measure, another 10 Oval tracks [via The Wire].

DNA will be released through Shitkatapult on January 6
