Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland – formerly known as Hype Williams – have launched a new record label.

Titled World Music Group, The Wire report that the imprint intends to issue “most future recordings/works through this channel.” No more information provided, but given that it’s Blunt and Copeland, they’ll likely look left the minute you start to look right.

Somewhere between an art project and musical group, Hype Williams debuted around 2009, but it was in 2010, with a clutch of EPs and albums (Untitled, What Happens When People Stop Being Polite and Start Gettin Reel, and Do Roids and Kill E’rything) that they fell onto the radars of most. In 2011, they expanded their reach through affiliations with labels Hippos in Tanks and Hyperdub – it was through the latter that they released their most recent album, Black is BeautifulThey also delivered a FACT mix that was either brilliant, barmy or both, depending on who you asked. We were firmly in the third category.
