Hessle Audio's Elgato launches new label, announces 'Dunkel Jam' single

Following the recent example of Jack Dixon and The Analogue Cops, Hessle Audio’s quiet genius Elgato has launched his own private imprint.

Elgato’s releases are far and few between: aside from 2010 debut ‘Tonight”Blue’, last year’s ‘Zone’/’Love Zombie’ disc and a new cut for the 116 & Rising Hessle Audio label primer, he’s barely made a peep. Which is a shame, because his productions – spartan, percussive techno experiments that develop like plants in a petri dish – are some of the most uncanny dancefloor weapons around.

As Juno Plus note, Elgato has taken the plunge and launched his own label. The imprint, also called Elgato, will launch with the long-awaited ‘Dunkel Jam’, familiar from Ben UFO’s 2011 Rinse:16 mix CD. As per ‘Zone’, it’s a stuttering, airy techno track, led by a scrambled female vocal and the sound of clinking terracotta. Flip ‘We Dream Electric’ uses the same sample to different purposes, turning out the sort of featherweight jam that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Actress’ Splazsh.

The ‘Dunkel Jam’ 12″ is due this week. Click below to stream samples of both tracks.
