Thundercat announces new album for Brainfeeder, executive produced by Flying Lotus

Bass virtuoso Stephen ‘Bruner’ Thundercat will release Apocalypse in July.

Brainfeeder boss (and frequent collaborator) Flying Lotus teased the album last December, and now we have full details. Thundercat will follow-up 2011’s Golden Age of Apocalypse with an album entitled Apocalypse, due out on July 8/9 via the label.

FlyLo will receive an executive producer credit on the album, and he co-wrote and co-produced ‘Heartbreak + Setbacks’ with Bruner and Mono/Poly; stream it below. The tracklist for Apocalypse follows. [via Pitchfork]

Additionally, Thundercat will support Flying Lotus on tour, and the pair might be working with Herbie Hancock. Last year, FACT interviewed Thundercat about Brainfeeder’s “champion sound.”
