Lou Reed’s cause of death has been confirmed as liver disease.

The Velvet Underground member and solo artist had liver transplant surgery earlier this year, but despite Reed returning to the stage and claiming that he felt “bigger and stronger” than ever, died this Sunday gone (October 27), aged 71. Dr. Charles Miller confirmed the news to the New York Times.
