Dillatroit gets digital release.
One of the posthumously-released albums by legendary Detroit beatmaker J Dilla has been made available to hear and purchase online.
The 12-track Dillatroit was initially put together by Dilla’s mother, Maureen ‘Ma Dukes’ Yancey, and given a vinyl-only release last May by Mahogani Music, the label run by Detroit house veteran Moodymann.
Moodymann’s Mahogani label also put out Dilla Lost Tapes this year, a 20-track collection of beats by the prolific producer, who died aged in 2006 aged 32.
Dilla’s early death has spawned a seemingly never-ending stream of re-releases and posthumous collaborations – just last month, clothing company Akomplice launched a collection inspired by the producer with an exclusive 7″ featuring young NYC rapper Joey Bada$$ tackling a Dilla beat.
