Someday World comes to life with new iOS app.
Earlier this month, ambient pioneer Brian Eno and electronic music veteran Karl Hyde released Someday World on Warp Records. The studio sessions were governed by a handful of Oblique Strategy-esque rules, one of which was for the pair to “…Build Cities on Hills.”
They’ve taken that rule to heart, teaming with Warp and developer Lukasz Karluk for an iOS app that combines the Someday World vinyl with image recognition and augmented reality, bridging the gap between analogue and digital. Fans can use their iOS device to explore “outsider architecture metropolises” that appear to come to life on the vinyl. Ironically, the app is soundtracked by Someday World track ‘Strip It Down’.
Watch how the app works below and download it for free in the App Store. Eno and Hyde have also released a short film about the album’s recording process.
