Stream 'Sugah Daddy', from D'Angelo's new album Black Messiah

As previously reported, the long-awaited new album by D’Angelo is almost here.

Red Bull Music Academy have now premiered the first song from Black Messiah, ‘Sugah Daddy’. D’Angelo and his band, The Vanguard, first played the song live in 2012, but this is the full studio version. Stream it here – now’s also a good time to revisit Laurent Fintoni’s guide to neo-soul.

Update, December 15: D’Angelo has shared the tracklist for Black Messiah. A lyric pamphlet has also surfaced from a New York City album listening session. The booklet details D’Angelo’s decision to name the album Black Messiah and also reveals the involvement of Q-Tip and Funcadelic’s Kendra Foster. You can view the pamphlet’s introduction and check the full tracklist below. [via Pitchfork]
