A brand new music player is the centrepiece of Apple’s latest iOS update.

Apple has released the first iOS 8.4 beta to developers. The most significant change is an overhaul to the music player, with the refreshed version borrowing a few elements from iTunes. New features include a mini player that sticks around when you’re browsing, an ‘Up Next’ song queue and a global search function. The iTunes Radio interface has also been given a sleek upgrade.

There’s no sign of Beats Music, the app that was rumoured to arrive alongside iOs 8.4. Apple is reportedly planning to ditch the Beats Music brand entirely in favour of a new streaming service built using Beats technologies and content.
