Lee Bannon’s next album will be his last under the Bannon name.

In a multi-part note uploaded to Instagram [collected as one message below], he reveals that his name following Pattern of Excel (due July 10 on Ninja Tune) will be ¬ b, meaning “not Bannon”.

The Bannon name, he feels, has “reached his limits”, and “the future can no longer exist in the same realm with music I created when I was 17, fickle and still developing”.

Lee Bannon made his name producing hip-hop for Pro Era, but his recent records owe as much to drum’n’bass and ambient music as they do hip-hop.
