Music discovery app Shazam has revealed its most identified artist of 2015 – Diplo.

The US producer and DJ’s music was identified over 40 million times by its users in 2015, thanks to big tracks from his Major Lazer project and the Jack Ü collaboration with Skrillex.

As Shazam’s handy infographic shows, Major Lazer’s massive ‘Lean On’ was identified 16.6m times, and the Justin Bieber-featuring ‘Where Are You Now’ clocked up 6.2m Shazams.

Diplo might be the most Shazamed artist of 2015, but he will also be remembered as one of the year’s most controversial. In February he was forced to apologise for sending sexist and misogynistic taunts via Twitter to an artist whose GIF he had used without credit.
