Noise conjurer Tim Hecker has been tapped to compose the score for forthcoming indie flick The Free World.

Directed by Jason Lew, the movie stars Boyd Holbrook as a former prisoner who gets involved with a married woman with a violent past, played by Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss. Also starring Octavia Spencer, Sung Kang and Waleed Zuaiter, The Free World is due to premiere on January 26 at Sundance Film Festival.

Hecker has scored a number of features and shorts previously, including Massacred For Gold, a 2013 film about a group of immigrant miners who were murdered in an anti-Chinese massacre in Oregon.

Earlier this year Hecker’s Norberg EP and Apondalifa 7″ from 2007 were collected on a special vinyl release on Room40. [via FilmMusicReporter]
