The simple music making app for iOS adds a key feature.

Novation’s Blocs team has updated its Wave app with a new slice mode that allows users to cut up their samples and play them in real time.

The new feature brings a new dimension to the all-in-one music creation app, which launched in March with the ability to tweak sample waveforms using the large-scale interface.

The new feature means that users can divide their chosen samples and apply each chunk to a built-in keyboard. The new feature also features a step sequencer and recording for up to four bars of music.

Described by the Blocs team as a way to “build music instantly,” Wave is built around sections that let you discover samples from the app’s library, edit and record bass, drums, melody and vocals.

Last month, the team added support for Ableton Link, allowing the app to work wirelessly with other software that uses the new technology.

Blocs Wave is available to buy now from the App Store for an introductory price of £3.99, $4.99 or €4.99.
