Dance Tunnel confirms closing parties with Kode 9, Jane Fitz

An extended wake to see out the Dalston nightspot in style.

East London nightclub Dance Tunnel has confirmed a series of final parties ahead of its closure in August.

The club bosses explained in April that the licensing climate in Hackney had made it impossible for them to get the opening hours they needed to make Dance Tunnel sustainable in the long term.

Kicking off tonight (June 3) with Antony Naples at Thunder, the club will over the next two months host DJs including Kode 9, Young Marco, Logan Sama at FWD>> and Jane Fitz, before bringing things to a close on August 7 for ‘One Last Dance (Tunnel)’, with a “friends and family” line-up to be confirmed. The 220-capacity basement venue opened in late 2012 and has over its three-and-a-half-year run booked some of the best DJs around, including Ben UFO, Helena Hauff and Optimo. Dance Tunnel also replaced Plastic People as the home of Rinse FM’s FWD» nights, which brought the likes of Mumdance and Deadboy down for regular Thursday night parties.

After fans and artists including Four Tet and Disclosure paid tribute to the club a petition was started to save the club in April. However, despite it reaching over 2,400 signatures, Dance Tunnel’s owners thanked the public for the support but said they would be moving the venue to a space “subject to fewer compromises.”
