M.I.A has taken to Instagram this morning to state that the original version of ‘Bird Song’ produced by Diplo is being held back by her label, Interscope. This is presumably why she shared the Blaqstarr remix earlier this week.

The version expected to appear on the album was produced by Diplo.

M.I.A. has dropped a new track ahead of her next album AIM, due out on September 9.

‘Bird Song’ has appeared in a version produced by Blaqstarr, who also co-produced ‘Go Off’ with Skrillex, another track from the album.

A Diplo-produced version of the track is slated to appear on the album, marking the first collaboration between M.I.A. and her former producer/boyfriend Diplo in nearly a decade.

M.I.A. has also revealed that former 1D star Zayn Malik will appear on the new album.
