The SL-1200G will cost £2,799.

Technics has announced that the updated SL-1200 turntable will go on general sale later this month – but it’s going to be out of the price range of most DJs.

As What Hi-Fi reports, Technics made the announcement at IFA trade show in Berlin last week, promising that the SL-1200G would be made available in wider quantities than the limited special edition model that went on sale earlier this year.

Unfortunately for those hoping that the standard model would be a little less expensive, Technics has confirmed that the SL-1200G will cost £2,799 – exactly the same amount as the limited edition SL-1200 GAE version.

The limited edition turntable’s initial run of 3,000 sold out in under 30 minutes when it went on sale on Japan in April.

While the SL-1200G is going to be out of the reach of many DJs, Technics has previously suggested that it may manufacture a more affordable version of the turntable is there’s enough demand.
