A follow-up to last year’s striking noise-poem Fetish Bones.

Philadelphia-based artist and activist Moor Mother has announced a new collection of political poems and soundscapes to be released through The Vinyl Factory in collaboration with CTM Festival.

Pitched as “a statement towards understanding the disconnect between humanity and injustice,” The Motionless Present follows 2016’s Fetish Bones, a rumbling protest record that strove to capture the contemporary black American experience through caustic noise, field recordings and fierce spoken word and rap.

The release features ‘Big Crime’, a taster of her forthcoming Moor Jewelry project with Mental Jewelry, and ‘The Untitled Track’, from a new project with Philly selector DJ Haram called 700 Bliss. Also featured on the record is Geng, boss of New York label/crew PTP.

The album was commissioned by The Vinyl Factory for the 2017 edition of CTM, where Moor Mother performed alongside Sky H1, Yally aka Raime, Actress and DJ Stingray at Berghain.

Find the tracklist below ‘This Week’, featuring Geng. The album is set for release next month and is available to pre-order now.
