Are we getting closer to the new album?

LCD Soundsystem played the first show of their five-night residency at new New York venue Brooklyn Steel last night (April 6), during which they treated fans to three new songs.

The band specifically asked attendees to refrain from filming the new songs. “It’d be a real gutpunch to all the people who have been working insanely hard for the last 18 months to release this music in the way we want to release it,” read a poster on display at the venue.

However, a setlist posted online revealed the titles of the three new tracks – ‘Tonight’, ‘Call Police’ and ‘American Dream’, which are expected to appear on the band’s highly anticipated new album. One Reddit user has offered their take on the new songs, saying that they “ran the gamut of different genres.”

Back in January, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy revealed that the band’s comeback album would be “done soon.”
