All digital proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ambient great Leyland James Kirby is currently in the midst of his three-year, six-album series, Everywhere at the end of time, bringing his influential project The Caretaker to an end. Now over 90 artists have come together for Memories Overlooked, a 100-track charity compilation paying tribute to his distinct work.

The compilation began as a tribute release curated by vaporwave master Nmesh, aka Alex Koenig and inspired by The Caretaker’s exploration of memory loss, nostalgia and dementia via distorted pre-war ballroom music. Echoing the concept of Everywhere, the compilation aims to replicate dementia by gradually degrading over its 100 track run.

“The project began as a compilation for the fans, by the fans,” Koenig says in a statement share with the release. “Yet upon receiving numerous submissions from artists whose family members had battled with dementia, it seemed to take on a more meaningful purpose.”

All of the digital proceeds from Memories Overlooked will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association who lead research on ending Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, as well as improving care for those currently living with them.

Memories Overlooked is out October 27 and will be released later this year in a four-cassette box. Pre-order here and watch a trailer for it below.
